This game is great.
I don’t know its current development phase, but it’s playable as it is. The game page says it’s in development, so I guess it’s not a final build yet. Keep up the good work!
The graphics are cool. The cutscene backgrounds may benefit from some extra efforts though, but it doesn’t distract me too much.
I wish there was a way to know that some room has a boss fight in it. So I could prepare before entering that room. Maybe it’s a design choice, but it makes me lose more often than I could. :D People don’t like to lose that often. :D
The metaprogression is nice. It wasn’t obvious for me that it’s a thing until it just happened. :) Feels good to start with a level higher than 1. I wonder if you can beat the game with a first try? I guess it could be possible if you’re a pro.
Some notes look the same. I remember the note go “it hurts it hurts it hurts…”. My bet that it’s a placeholder and you’ll add more note texts later. I’m looking forward to it!
There is an NPC that can be killed and says awawa upon dying. They take too many hits. :D Therefore a player can spend a lot of time trying to defeat them even thought there is no reason to do that. Maybe make them either invulnerable or decrease the health to something like 30? It was funny to spend ~5 minutes attacking it, but I’m not sure every player would enjoy that. :D
If I do a slow walk, I see a blue aura. It looks like a collision shape or something. Is that intended? :D
I have a feeling that slow walking feature is a little bit mysterious. AFAIK, it only helps you to get some pickup with less risk of hurting yourself with some trap. Maybe this action is more useful in the later levels.
There is a file named
Fairyside_BurstDebugInformation_DoNotShip
in the Linux game distribution. I think you accidentally shipped it. :D Or maybe it’s an easter egg and I may want to use that savedata (?) and see what happens.I’ll probably play this game some more. I may write more comments if I’ll have anything more to report. :) So far, it’s 10/10 for my itch-io taste. :D
I also did a video recording while playing this game, so I could share it with my friends and maybe even you. :D
Thank you so much for playing the game; I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Ah, that is a mislabeling, it should be marked as completed but with some occasional updates
